The limited copies of Shya's new album have come and gone almost as quickly as the month of March. And no surprise after the generous album premiere on The FADER, in addition to pleasantries from United Cassettes, Austin Town Hall, and Very Tiny Songs.

The band will be down in Harrisonburg, VA for MACROCK XIX tonight along with Mal Devisa, Hemlines, Bless, Dogs On Acid, Wolf Eyes, Container, and a bunch of other great bands for the first night of two awesome days of music.

Surprise! Big Hush are back with a brand new EP called "Who's Smoking Your Spirit?" out on December 1. The first single "Cough" premiered yesterday on The FADER, who called the release a "fuzz-heavy, shoegaze pop whirlwind," and got some cryptic explanation of the track, dubbed by guitarist/vocalist Owen Wuerker as a song "about trying to remind yourself that you still have some control over the kind of person you are...you can nurse a cough for so long that you start to forget you're sick."



The release show will be November 30 at Black Cat with our friends Wildhoney and Cigarette. If you live in the District you may have seen these slick show posters on an electrical box near you, and a small run of screenprints will be available at the show c/o the wildly talented JD Deardourff. Don't miss this killer bill and your chance to snag one of these beauties and a copy of "Who's Smoking Your Spirit?" on pro-dubbed cassettes limited to 100 copies (click poster for details).

The latest releases for Pool Holograph and Birkwin Jersey have both received some very nice accolades from the folks at Ad Hoc, The FADER, I Found Music, Neighborhood Tapes, Obscure Sound, Portals, and This Is Fake DIY, and Weed Temple.

This past month has been much busier than expected at DZ HQ, but things are finally getting caught up to where they should be. All orders have been shipped out, my thanks go out to everyone for your patience. Being the only one running the show here, things can bottleneck fairly quickly if there's even a slight delay, so I appreciate you all bearing with me. The tapes all look and sound really good, so if you haven't ordered yours yet there's no better time than the present!

In other news, two additional releases are currently in the works and should be ready for release in the spring! Stay tuned for further details. :)

DZ08 preview on The FADER

The next full-length release from Brighton producer Graeme Coop, or BIRKWIN JERSEY, is set to hit the streets next week as a co-release between DZ TAPES and Absent Fever, and The FADER was kind enough to post a preview of one of the many standout tracks, "We Don't Go To Dances" featuring Vienna. The pair make up two-thirds of Partpanda.
